Kansas basketball was back in action against Oklahoma State. With a refreshing change of pace, the Jayhawks picked up a home win over the #23 Cowboys.

Unranked for the first time in 12 years, Kansas basketball found a major win at home against Oklahoma State. Sustaining a narrow lead for most of the contest, the Jayhawks were able to capitalize offensively and out-run the Cowboys 78-68.

Leading the way for Kansas was David McCormack, who carried the weight inside with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dave was a major obstacle for the Cowboys’ defense, as he would contribute multiple buckets cleaning up the glass.

Along with Dave’s offensive success, Kansas also found success from the three-point line. Yes, you heard me right, the three-point line.

Christian Braun would find himself a groove, going 3 of 5 from behind the arc. Heating up in the second half, he would help push the Jayhawk’s momentum forward.

Defensively, Kansas would allow three outside buckets from the Cowboys but would shine on the rebounding end. Sophomore Jalen Wilson found himself useful on the defensive end of the court, taking away 9 shots from Oklahoma State and contributing 11 points by the end of the night.

Garrett, Agbaji, and Lightfoot each were supportive of Kansas on defense. Having a well-balanced defense was crucial heading into this matchup, especially against a guy like Cade Cunningham.

This win should be appreciated by Kansas fans, it’s been a minute since we’ve seen this team stick it to an opponent and the home win is refreshing after last week’s road loss to WVU.

If the Jayhawks play their cards right in their next couple of matchups against Iowa State and Kansas State, we could see Bill Self’s squad work their way back into the AP Top 25.

While this may seem like an easy task, Kansas is set to finish their season against three of the Big 12’s best programs, all of which currently reside in the Top #15 in the national rankings.

To ensure a decent seat in the tournament, the Jayhawks are going to need to keep the same pace they featured against the Cowboys. The season might be winding down but it’s never too late for Kansas to make a late run into March.
