Looking to mix it up, Kansas basketball head coach Bill Self may start freshman guard Dajuan Harris at home tomorrow against TCU.

Dajuan Harris has had a solid start to his career with Kansas basketball, and he may even land another starting role tomorrow against the Horned Frogs.

Following their latest loss to Oklahoma, head coach Bill Self has shared his thoughts about some changes to the starting roster. This could very well include Dajuan getting another start.

Harris, who had filled in for an injured Marcus Garrett against TCU last time around, is an “eye-opening” choice to place up top. If more speed from the point guard position can spark some life in the Jayhawk offense, then I’m sure fans would be all for it.

At a younger age, this places more responsibility on Harris to make tough decisions when leading this offense. Tomorrow’s game against TCU should serve as a decent test though.

In his last performance against the Horned Frogs, Dajuan found a very supportive role on offense. He contributed 7 assists, a pair of rebounds, and finished with 7 points. While it wasn’t the most action-packed start for the freshman, have a versatile player who can help the offense produce on both ends of the floor is the music fan’s ears.

Having Harris start could give Garrett some relief, but also pose a new direction for the offense. We’ve seen what his speed can do in transition and it can be quite dangerous at times. In the loss to Baylor, Harris found in transition where his attempted dunk failed. Despite the failure to come away with the bucket, you could imagine what kind of weapon he can be in traffic.

Mixing up the roster isn’t going to fully shift Kansas into gear. It’s going to require a collective effort from this team. The good news is that we had some solid tools at our disposal, and Dajuan Harris is no exception.

Even if Coach Self decides to sit Harris at the start of tomorrow’s game, it’s almost a guarantee we’ll see him take the floor. If he can put a show at home, it’s only going to strengthen his reputation going forward this season.

The obvious priority, however, is finding a win. Kansas has lost their last three games and it’s having fans on edge about what kind of run they’re going to make. The first step back into the tournament conversation begins with a home win over TCU tomorrow.
