Jared Butler should be an area of concern for Kansas basketball, as stopping him will be crucial if the Jayhawks hope to find a road win against #2 Baylor.

Kansas basketball will be on the road tonight against an extremely talented Baylor program. It will likely be one of the Jayhawk’s toughest matchups of the conference season, as Kansas fans have been starting to think twice about what kind of run head coach Bill Self’s squad is going to make.

The road only gets tougher with a loss to Baylor tonight and if the Jayhawks aim to prove their worth, it will include stopping Bear’s leading scorer Jared Butler.

Butler averages 15 points per game and has been the ‘go-to’ guy for the Bears to make plays. The junior guard stands at 6’3” and has a good deal of speed to accompany his solid shooting ability.

In the Bear’s recent win over Texas Tech, Butler showed he can turn it on when he needs to.

Kansas will need to lock in up top and stop Butler from finding openings. If we leave any gaps, he’s going to pounce on them. Getting strong defenders like Agbaji and Garrett in his face will be crucial to stopping him from finding any support inside.

In Jayhawk’s favor, we have seen a stronger presence from inside the paint. David McCormack has been very impressive lately and having him step up as he has will be a must tonight. Even with the inside production, we still need shots to click outside.

Getting Christian Braun and Jalen Wilson opportunities to succeed from the perimeter and if shots click early, we should expect Kansas to step on the gas. The Jayhawks can’t afford to slow up in the first half, starting fast will be apart of that goal.

Kansas hasn’t been in action for six days and has had a decent break following their postponement against Iowa State. The Jayhawks are set to take the floor against the Bears at 8:00 PM CT on ESPN.
