David McCormack had an impressive performance against the Sooners, stepping up to lead Kansas basketball in scoring. We should hope to see more from junior moving forward in the schedule.

Kansas basketball found a narrow win over Oklahoma, putting them back on track for an exciting run in conference play. Junior forward David McCormack had a solid afternoon on the floor, helping lead Kansas to its first home win since their loss to #4 Texas a little over a week ago.

McCormack led the Jayhawks with 17 points, a couple of rebounds, and a pair of blocks. David stepped up and found quite a bit of action for Kansas following an early lead found by the Sooners.

David would help keep Kansas battling well into the second half, eventually finding the basket that would ‘seal the cap’ on the Jayhawks’ home win against the Sooners.

The junior forward has averaged around 11 points per game this season and had been rather dormant offensively at times for Kansas. Having him on his game is going to help push Kansas’ inside attack and hopefully channel more success in the paint.

There was plenty of help at McCormack’s side as well, with Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson both adding crucial time on the floor for Kansas. This duo would combine for 21 points and each would find a steal by the end of the night.

Finding support inside and outside will be the key for Kansas moving forward. The Jayhawks seem to be clicking with following the Texas loss, as we’ve seen much more balanced numbers from the Jayhawks since that loss at home.

Getting more support to David will help get him more opportunities at the basket and will allow him to be a ‘saving grace’ in a pinch. His ability to make strong pivots and create space is lethal.

McCormack had another reassuring appearance against TCU this past week and having him on the scene again is going to help push the Jayhawks in the right direction. Finding a groove has been the main priority following the loss to the Longhorns and with guys like David finding ways to stay productive, Kansas should move right along.
