Kansas basketball will take on the Washburn Ichabods later tonight, and the game should provide some Jayhawks with opportunities.

Kansas basketball is set to face the Washburn Ichabods tonight at 7:00, and the result of the game should not be in question. That’s no disrespect to Washburn, but the Jayhawks are the No. 7 team in the nation, and the Ichabods are a DII team that plays in the MIAA. Kansas can use this game to do two things: get guys playing time and correct issues from previous outings.

This game could serve as an excellent opportunity to get big man David McCormack back on track since he’s struggled to produce so far. The junior was expected to be a top returner for the Jayhawks this season, but there’s still plenty of time for him to get back on track and make an impact this year.

This game could also be a chance to have JUCO transfer Tyon Grant-Foster and freshman Gethro Muscadin play some significant minutes. Grant-Foster was especially hyped up during this offseason, so it’d be nice to see him play a lot since he’s only played 24 minutes over the past three games.

Despite an opportunity to play everyone, Kansas basketball will likely start their usual five: Marcus Garrett, Ochai Agbaji, Christian Braun, Jalen Wilson, and David McCormack. Granted, the Jayhawks are playing a DII team, but they still need to start fast.

Last Tuesday against Kentucky, it took Kansas over 12 minutes in the first half to score over 10 points. That cannot happen in the future, and it’s a wonder how Kentucky didn’t boat race the Jayhawks after such a poor offensive showing. Hopefully, the slow start was a fluke, and it’ll never be an issue again for Kansas.
