Kansas basketball is right around the corner, and no sooner than this month as the Jayhawks are set to meet the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Sunshine State on November 26th.

Kansas basketball is set to return to the hardwood in November, and it’s another solid matchup for the Jayhawks. It appears that Kansas and Gonzaga have agreed to add this game to their schedule, making it the season opener for the Jayhawks.

A little over a month ago, we got to see the power 36 rankings from the NCAA. It appears the Jayhawks will be dealing with the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs out of the gate. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 33-4 record in 2019 and were similarly robbed of a shot at the NCAA title in 2020.

Regardless, both schools come in with very decent rosters. Gonzaga’s senior forward Corey Kispert is going to cause trouble for Kansas in the paint. He has proven to be very dominant at the basket, averaging over 13 points a game in 2019. The gap down low in the Jayhawks defense will only make controlling Kispert even harder. Gonzaga’s defense struggled in 2019 however, allowing upwards of 67 points per game. Kansas should be able to find consistent shooting from sophomore Christian Braun and junior Ochai Agbaji, who both had solid numbers in 2019.

Both programs come into 2020-21 with different rosters and key absences on both sides. The Jayhawks will be without talented forward Silvio De Sousa, who departed the program recently to address personal issues. The Bulldogs will be missing Killian Tillie, a talented forward on their roster who graduated this past May.

The Jayhawks and Bulldogs are set for November 26th, a date that just can’t seem to get close enough. Fans are desperate for some college basketball after last year’s disaster of a finish to the 2019 season due to COVID-19 health concerns. Our withdrawals should be satisfied, however, with two of the more talented teams in college basketball square off on Thanksgiving. This should prove to a highly watched game, even if it is from the dinner table.
