The game time and channel have been announced for the Sunflower Showdown, Kansas football’s annual clash with Kansas State.

Kansas football has not done well in the Sunflower Showdown against Kansas State for the past decade. The Wildcats have won the last 11 meetings; however, Kansas does still hold the overall series advantage 64-47-5. The series saw its first game in 1902, and this will be the 118th installment.

This season’s game will take place on October 24 in Manhattan. Game time is set for a bright and early 11:00 am, and it’ll be televised on FOX Sports 1. Based on how Kansas State is doing this season relative to Kansas, it’s hard to see the Jayhawks getting the win at this point.

Kansas State has a 3-0 record so far in the Big 12, while the Jayhawks are still searching for their first win of the season. The Wildcats did run into some bad news though given the fact that quarterback Skylar Thompson will be out for the remainder of this year.

It’s a tough break for K-State, but they have plenty of weapons that Kansas will have to weary of. Running back Deuce Vaughn has been running all over defenses as of late, and he’s been a huge part of the Wildcats’ success. It’ll be imperative that the Jayhawks do everything they can to slow him down, or it’ll be a long day for Kansas.

Speaking of long days, last season’s Sunflower Showdown was a total dud for the Jayhawks. Kansas was defeated 38-10 in a game that seemed like it could go either way initially, but the Wildcats proved pretty quickly that they were the superior team.

This season, Kansas football is going to have to come out focused and ready to go if they’re going to have a chance on the road against Kansas State. The Jayhawks will need to play their absolute best, or K-State’s run game will suffocate the Jayhawks.
