Kansas basketball has a chance to land five-star forward Daimion Collins, but the Jayhawks will need to fend off some Big 12 rivals.

Five-star forward Daimion Collins recently listed Kansas basketball as one of his top five choices, along with Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Kentucky. Collins is rated as the No. 19 overall prospect in the class of 2021 per 247Sports, and he’d be a huge pick up for the Jayhawks if they’re able to snag him.

It’s notable that Collins is from Texas, which seems to explain the fact that four of his top five schools are in the Big 12 Conference. As of now, Oklahoma seems to be the favorite according to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball and Rivals’ predictor. Texas and Texas Tech are also in the conversation if the recruiting sites’ experts are accurate.

Here is Daimion Collins’ Twitter post announcing his top five, including the Kansas Jayhawks:

Unfortunately, Collins has not announced a commitment date yet but keep an eye out for one. There’s also a chance he could also cut his list again in the future, so that might be why Collins has not announced a commitment date as of now.

Landing Collins is going to be tough for Bill Self and the Jayhawks, but not impossible. It looks like they’ll be fighting an uphill battle if the experts on Rivals and 247 are to be believed, but they aren’t always correct. Self and the Jayhawks evidently have time to sway Collins too, and it is tough to turn down a chance to play for a blue blood program.

Landing Collins will also keep the Jayhawks from having to play against him considering he will most likely choose a Big 12 school, which adds extra incentive for Self and his staff to make a run at him.
