After some concerns from COVID-19, Kansas football and Baylor are set to face each other tomorrow night at 6:30 in Waco.

At one point, Kansas football’s first road game of the season and conference opener against the Baylor Bears looked doubtful. Now, it’s been confirmed that both squads are good to go for their game tomorrow evening. Both teams are reported to have had no positive COVID-19 tests in their latest testing, which is excellent news.

A lot of the concern for this game comes from the fact that Baylor had to postpone their game last Saturday against Houston due to COVID-19 protocols set by the Big 12. The Bears still haven’t played a game yet in this 2020 season, so the Jayhawks will serve as their first opponent of 2020.

That means that the Jayhawks aren’t going to have a lot of data on the Bears heading into the game. Baylor head coach David Aranda will also be coaching in his first game, and their defense is almost brand new after replacing nearly every starter from last season’s squad. One constant though is quarterback Charlie Brewer, who proved to be one of the best QBs in the Big 12 last season when he had time to throw.

Another wrinkle for this game is that the Jayhawks have had quite a bit of time to get prepared. After their defeat on September 12 against Coastal Carolina, the Jayhawks had last week off as they look to rebound from the embarrassing loss. That bye week could help give Kansas an advantage, and they’ll need all the help they can get against the Bears.

Whatever happens, it’s a good thing we’ve got a game this week. Kansas football and Baylor are set to kick off in Waco at 6:30 PM (CDT) with coverage on ESPNU.
