Stephon Robinson did not play in Kansas football’s loss last week to Coastal Carolina, but he should be back for the game against Baylor.

It’s evident that Kansas football will need all the help they can get if they’re going to win games this season. Their season opener loss to Coastal Carolina proved that, but to be fair the Jayhawks were a little bit shorthanded. Two starters, wide receiver Stephon Robinson and tight end Jack Luavasa did not play against the Chanticleers, but both should be back for the game against Baylor on September 26.

They really could have used both Luavasa and Robinson in that first game of the season, which Miles touched on by saying: “certainly two starters that would have made significant plays.” It’s too late to worry about the Coastal Carolina game now though. It’s time to focus on Baylor.

Kansas football head coach Miles has said that both should be back, and having Robinson back should help the Jayhawks especially. Robinson had over 700 receiving yards plus eight touchdowns in the 2019 season, and he’s easily one of the top receivers on the team along with fellow seniors Andrew Parchment and Kwamie Lassiter II.

The trio of Parchment, Robinson, and Lassiter is legitimately one of the best receiver groups in the Big 12. It’s exciting to think about how having Robinson back will help out not only his fellow receivers but also the Kansas quarterbacks.

Robinson should provide the Kansas quarterback, whether it be Miles Kendrick or Thomas MacVittie, with another target. Those QBs need all the weapons they can get, and adding Robinson back in should do wonders to help the Kansas passing game.

After the embarrassing loss against Coastal Carolina, the Jayhawks really need to rebound with a solid performance next week on the road against Baylor. It certainly won’t be easy, but having Luavasa and Robinson back should do a lot to make Kansas more competitive.
