Class of 2022 four-star guard Roddy Gayle Jr. has recently received an offer from Bill Self and Kansas basketball.

Although Kansas basketball doesn’t have anyone committed in the 2022 recruiting class, that doesn’t mean head coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks aren’t hard at work. Roddy Gayle Jr. was just offered by Kansas, and he would do well as a member of Kansas basketball.

He’s ranked as the No. 29 overall player an No. 5 shooting guard in the 2022 class by 247Sports. It’s also notable that he’s ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of New York. So far, he’s got a number of offers from teams including Syracuse, UCONN, Seton Hall, Louisville, Oregon, Ohio State, and others.

Given the fact that Gayle is from New York, the Syracuse Orange seem to be the favorite, at least as of now. It’s hard to ignore an offer from Kansas basketball though, and hopefully Self’s staff can work on convincing Gayle that Kansas is the school for him.

Here is Roddy Gayle Jr’s tweet announcing his offer from the Kansas Jayhawks:

Standing at six-foot-four, Gayle is extremely talented. He’s got some solid highlights that show off his ability to knock down shots from behind the arc, and he can also play above the rim too. Gayle also has the ability to get to the rim and finish, in addition to pulling up and making a jumper.

Considering Gayle is highly rated but not quite a five-star, he seems like the kind of player that could so well at Kansas. The Jayhawks have a good track record of developing guards over a two or three year period,

It’s very important that Self and his staff do not miss on the 2022 recruiting class, especially if this 2021 class doesn’t crack the top 15. Roddy Gayle Jr. could help ensure that the class of ’22 is a solid one for the Jayhawks, but we probably won’t know his choice for quite awhile.
