The 2020-21 Kansas basketball season was up in the air, but now we have a solid start date for the beginning of the season.

This coming season’s Kansas basketball squad should be really good despite losing a pair of All-Americans in the offseason. The Jayhawks came in at No. 7 in Andy Katz’s Power 36, and they should have a good chance to repeat as Big 12 champs. The big question though was whether or not Kansas would have the opportunity to even play this season.

The good news it sounds like the season will tip off on November 25 according to ESPN. Kansas was originally supposed to face Kentucky in the Champions Classic, and it sounds like the tournament could be moved to Orlando in a bubble, similar to the NBA.

This is excellent news for the Kansas Jayhawks, considering they could play one of the very first basketball games of the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats are also a top 10 team according to Katz, so a matchup of that magnitude between blue bloods in an Orlando bubble would certainly be compelling.

Other important nuggets of info include the practice start date of October 14 with no exhibition games, a maximum of 27 games per team, and minimum of four non-conference games. There are still tons of questions regarding the 2020-21 season, but those will likely be ironed out as we approach the aforementioned start date.

It can’t be easy being a student-athelte or coach right now given the fact that things are changing so fast, not to mention the chance that the season could be canceled all together at any moment.

For Kansas basketball, it sounds like they have some solid info now, probably easing some concerns about whether or not the season would go on in addition to what it would look like. That has to make preparation easier, and it sounds like this season’s boot camp is underway per Mitch Lightfoot.
