Kansas football: Who will be Jayhawks’ MVPs for 2020 season?
Kansas football is set to kick off the 2020 season this Saturday. Who will be the Jayhawks’ most valuable players in 2020?
After a 3-9 season in 2019, Kansas football will be returning quite a few players that played important roles, while also losing some very significant pieces. First-Team All-Big 12 offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji graduated, and so did starting quarterback Carter Stanley as well as receiver Daylon Charlot. Many members of the Jayhawks’ defense like Mike Lee, Bryce Torneden, Azur Kamara, Elmore Hempstead, also graduated as well.
The Kansas Jayhawks will be returning three key receivers, including seniors Andrew Parchment, Stephon Robinson, and Kwamie Lassiter II. This receiver trio is one of the best in the Big 12, but a lot will depend on whether or not Kansas has solid play from the quarterback position.
Of course, back-to-back First-Team All-Big 12 member Pooka Williams will be back for his junior season. Williams is easily one of the best players in the entire conference, and it’s exciting to think about what he’s still capable of in this 10-game season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kansas will have linebacker Dru Prox back after he was injured in the fourth game of the 2019 season. Prox had 39 tackles at that point in the season, and he would have been on track to have well over 100 on the season. Having him back should make a huge difference for Kansas.
With all that being said, here are the Jayhawks’ 2020 Preseason MVPs for offense, defense, and special teams, along with some other players to keep an eye on in each group.
