Kansas basketball still hasn’t landed a five-star recruit in the class of 2021, these are some of the big names still out there.

Kansas basketball has fallen in recent recruiting rankings from 247Sports. The Jayhawks’ 2021 class, made up of four-star recruits KJ Adams and Zach Clemence, currently ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 and No. 18 in the country as of now.

The Jayhawks have missed on some recruits recently, namely Tamar Bates and Kendall Brown. That doesn’t mean the Jayhawks are down and out yet though, there are still some big names out there that could end up wearing the crimson and blue.

The one that Kansas basketball head coach would probably want the most is five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis, who’s also a top 10 recruit in the country. The Jayhawks will have to do their best to out-recruit schools like Kentucky, Gonzaga, North Carolina, and Michigan, but it can be done.

Five-star point guard JD Davison recently included Kansas in his top six, so the Jayhawks definitely have a shot. Davison is ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit in the class and he would be an amazing get for Bill Self and Kansas.

It’s important that the Jayhawks land one of these two guys in the 2021 recruiting class. With incoming freshman Bryce Thompson likely leaving and Marcus Garrett graduating after this season, there will be opportunities for playing time in the backcourt.

Considering how well Self has done with point guards in the past, you’d think that he could definitely sell recruits on Kansas, but then there are the NCAA allegations. Recruiting is already cutthroat, but add in the negativity from the allegations and Bill Self has a tough job.

That being said, Kansas is still a blue blood through and through. Just one big-time recruit would easily make this class a really good one for the Jayhawks, and it’s just something to keep an eye on for now.
