Former Kansas basketball star Devonte’ Graham not only took part in the Shooting with the Stars event, but he beat the competition.

If one had to choose a favorite for the Shooting with the Stars three-point contest last night, Svi Mykhailiuk would have probably been selected. He’s known as a sharpshooter in the NBA, and that was his thing in college too. Former Kansas basketball teammate and current NBA player Devonte’ Graham came out on top though.

Mykhailiuk won the first round, knocking down 20 shots compared to Graham’s 18. Here are the finalists that made it to the second round:

  • Svi Mykhailiuk
  • Devonte’ Graham
  • Tyrel Reed
  • Billy Thomas
  • Brandon Rush
  • Kirk Hinrich

In the second round, each Jayhawk got 10 shots to add to their first-round points total. Graham was able to make nine of his shots in the final round, giving himself a total score of 27. Mykhailiuk was only able to make six of his six for a total of 26.

While the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic wasn’t the same without the traditional game, the three-point contest was actually a great idea. It was a lot of fun to watch the past Jayhawks legends compete with each other, not to mention it was for a great cause.

Speaking of, the silent auction is also still running. There are quite a few cool pieces of memorabilia, and there are also opportunities to win 30-minute Zoom calls with various KU legends like Cole Aldrich, Scot Pollard, and Nick Collison.

Checking up on former Jayhawks is always fun. Hopefully next season we can have the traditional five on five game. Honestly, it would be really cool to continue having a three-point contest as part of the regular Rock Chalk Roundball Classic though.
