Considering Kansas football hasn’t won more than three games in a normal season in over a decade, three wins in a 10-game season would be good for Les Miles’ Jayhawks.

It’s hard to expect a lot out of the Kansas Jayhawks for the 2020 football season. Everyone knows that the program has been struggling since the late 2000s, despite multiple head coaching changes. For 2020, the goal for this Kansas football team should be to pick up three wins.

You’re right, three wins is a terrible goal to have, but keep in mind Kansas hasn’t won more than three games in a season since 2009, and those were all full-length 12 game seasons with three non-conference games. This year’s schedule will have just one non-con game with the rest being against Big 12 opponents. Not an ideal situation for anyone, especially a team like Kansas.

That being said, winning three games would imply that the Jayhawks likely beat Coastal Carolina to begin the season. After that, they’ll have to scrape together a pair of Big 12 Conference wins somewhere along the way.

The two best chances for wins in Big 12 play are probably West Virginia and Texas Tech; however, both of those games are on the road. TCU is probably Kansas’ best chance for a home win considering the Horned Frogs will be without quarterback Max Duggan.

At home, Kansas will also be facing Oklahoma State, Texas, and Iowa State, all three of whom were ranked in the preseason AP Top 25. Getting a win against any of those teams will be a tall order, so Kansas will need to make their chances count against lesser teams on the road.

Then again, who knows? With all of the chaos and uncertainty this offseason, maybe Kansas football will somehow break out of the Big 12 basement and look like a competent team on Saturdays. Until we see that on the field though, three wins is the expectation.
