Kansas basketball is making a push for JD Davison, a five-star point guard in the 2021 recruiting class from Alabama.

The Jayhawks could use a point guard in their 2021 recruiting class, and five-star recruit JD Davison could be the man to step in and fill the gap. He’s rated as the No. 12 prospect in the nation according to 247Sports, and he just listed Kansas basketball as one of his top six schools.

The other five schools that made the cut include Memphis, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and Michigan. He also holds offers from other prestigious programs including Florida, Louisville, and Florida State. It probably won’t be easy, but the Jayhawks definitely have a chance to land Davison.

Here is his Tweet announcing his top five schools:

Based on the fact that four of his top six schools are in the South, it looks like the Jayhawks may have a tough time pulling Davison up to Lawrence, Kansas. One thing Bill Self can sell that many of those other schools can’t though is the fact that the Jayhawks are a blue blood program.

The Jayhawks have more national titles than the other schools have combined, they play in one of the best venues in sports, and they’re regularly competing for conference and national titles more than any of the other teams in his top six.

Another reason for Davison to come to Kansas is because the Jayhawks will need to replace Marcus Garrett after this season, and incoming freshman Bryce Thompson could very well be a one and done. Davison should get a chance to play almost immediately, and probably start in his freshman season.

As of now, Kansas basketball’s 2021 recruiting class contains two four-star forwards: Zach Clemence and KJ Adams. With a commitment from Davison, the Jayhawks could easily have one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Unfortunately, he didn’t mention a commitment date, so stay tuned for Davison to either cut his list again or announce a commitment date.
