Kansas football will be taking on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers for their season-opener, which is a good matchup for the Jayhawks.

We now know Kansas football’s full 2020 schedule. It may be two games shorter than usual, and the Jayhawks may have had to shuffle their season opener opponent multiple times, but here we are against all odds.

The team Kansas will be facing on September 12 is Coastal Carolina, a team the Jayhawks were originally scheduled to play on the road this season. Kansas did a two-for-one with the Chanticleers, so Kansas will face them on the road in 2021 after facing them at home last season and this season.

Speaking of that game last year, it was one of the worst of the entire 2019 season, maybe the worst. Kansas dropped the contest 12-7, which was extremely embarrassing to say the least. Losing to a Sunbelt Conference team is bad enough, but only being able to put seven points on the board is just absolutely awful.

The Chanticleers proceeded to whack a Jayhawk piñata in their locker room after the game. The video went viral after and it should provide more than enough bulletin board material for Les Miles’ team.

For Kansas, playing Coastal Carolina at home this season should be a nice little test to see how the Jayhawks have improved under Miles. That, and it’ll give the Jayhawks a chance to get a little revenge after the utter embarrassment of a game last season.

As of now, the contest is scheduled for September 12; however, the time and network have yet to be announced. With any luck, fans will be able to attend the game, but that seems to be up in the air right now. Either way, this game will provide Kansas the opportunity to get their season started off on the right foot before a tough Big 12 slate.
