Kansas basketball’s 2021 recruiting class currently has two forwards, but no guards. The Jayhawks are really going to need a guard in that class that can handle the ball.

When it comes to the 2021 recruiting class, Kansas basketball is looking pretty good. They have two commits so far that are both rated as four-star prospects, Zach Clemence and KJ Adams. While both prospects address the Jayhawks’ depth at the forward position, Kansas still needs a point guard.

The Jayhawks have offered some intriguing prospects, including five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis, along with combo guard and four-star recruit Tamar Bates.

Sallis is definitely one of the best prospects Kansas could land at this stage in the game. He’s rated as the No. 19 overall prospect in the class according to 247Sports, and he currently holds offers from North Carolina, Louisville, Oregon, Gonzaga, Michigan, and many others. That’s obviously some tough competition for the Jayhawks, but they certainly have a shot.

Bates would also be a solid addition to the class, especially given the fact that he is a Kansas native.

Kansas also has a shot with some four-star point guards including Nolan Hickman and Frankie Collins. As a matter of fact, Kansas has a Crystal Ball prediction logged in their favor for Hickman. Either point guard would be able to help Kansas, so whichever one Bill Self and his staff can land is good for the Jayhawks.

Each of these four prospects has multiple big-time offers, but Self and his staff will need to land one of them considering Marcus Garrett will graduate after this coming season. Not to mention, incoming five-star combo guard Bryce Thompson is likely going to be a one and done player.

Knowing Self, Kansas won’t come out of this empty-handed. With any luck, they’ll end up with a great point guard ready to fill Devon Dotson’s shoes.
