Three-star linebacker D’Marion Alexander will be joining Kansas football’s 2021 recruiting class after decommitting from Minnesota back in June.

Head coach Les Miles isn’t messing around with this 2021 recruiting class. Kansas football just got its eighteenth recruit with D’Marion Alexander, a three-star linebacker out of China Spring, Texas. He was formerly committed to P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota; however, Alexander decided to reopen his recruitment in June.

He chose Kansas over a number of other schools, including Minnesota, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Arizona State. Alexander marks the sixth Texas recruit to join the Jayhawks as a member of the 2021 class, which is more than any other state. Kansas, Alabama, Georgia, and Arkansas are all tied for second with two recruits each.

Here is D’Marion Alexander’s post announcing his commitment to the Kansas Jayhawks:

Alexander stands at six-foot-five and 215 pounds so his frame alone is enough to at least give him potential, and after watching his highlights, Alexander looks like he could be a difference-maker for the Jayhawks. His pursuit of ball carriers no matter where they are on the field really sticks out in his film, along with his ability to physically dominate blockers that try to stop him.

For Kansas football, their 2021 recruiting class is going to get a nice little bump in its ratings. As of now, it’s ranked No. 45 in the country and No. 5 in the Big 12 according to  Rivals but both of those numbers should improve as soon as Alexander is accounted for. He’s easily one of the higher-rated recruits in the class.

With technique improvements and coaching from Chidera Uzo-Diribe, D’Marion Alexander could develop into a really great player for the Jayhawks. He already has the talent and size, so it’s all about fine-tuning and getting better.
