Along with every other school in the Big 12, Kansas football has received its new schedule for the 2020 season after the conference announced a plan to play.

A lot hinged on whether or not the Big 12 would choose to go ahead with Fall sports, as we all kept our eyes glued to social media and/or the news for an announcement. Now, after all of the rumors and speculation, we have a plan for Kansas football’s 2020 season.

The conference announced each member school’s Big 12 schedule, with the most notable change being the start date. Kansas was originally supposed to play their first conference game against Baylor on September 12; however, that game has been pushed back to September 26.

The Jayhawks were originally scheduled to play against Southern Illinois on August 29, but that game seems unlikely now that the Missouri Valley Conference has moved their season to the Spring.

As it stands now, here is Kansas football’s new schedule for 2020:

  • 9/26 @ Baylor
  • 10/3 vs. Oklahoma State
  • 10/10 BYE
  • 10/17 @ West Virginia
  • 10/24 @ Kansas State
  • 10/31 vs. Iowa State
  • 11/7 @ Oklahoma
  • 11/14 BYE
  • 11/21 vs. Texas
  • 11/28 vs. TCU
  • 12/5 @ Texas Tech

Per the Big 12’s release, the “9+1” format is still in play and all non-conference games must be played prior to September 26. Every team must also have a minimum of two bye weeks in their schedule.

Another caveat revolves around attendance at stadiums. The Big 12 is leaving it to the schools to determine the capacity at each game, so games may or may not have fans at this point.

For the Kansas Jayhawks, this isn’t a bad schedule at all. It’s not going to be easy, but the goal for Miles in his second season with this lineup should be three wins given only one non-con game. Even if Kansas loses the non-conference game, winning two Big 12 games would certainly be a step in the right direction for the program.

While there are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding the 2020 college football season, we know a whole heck of a lot more today than we did yesterday at this time. For now, it looks like we’ll get to see Kansas football in 2020.
