Three-star cornerback Kameron Grays will be joining Kansas football’s 2021 recruiting class. It’s a huge recruiting win for Les Miles and the Jayhawks.

Kameron Grays, a three-star corner from Alabama, is the newest member of Kansas football’s 2021 recruiting class. Grays is a great addition to the class, considering he’s the third-best prospect in the Jayhawks’ class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Despite just a three-star rating, Grays was offered by some notable schools like Missouri, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, and Indiana. The Seminoles were actually the favorite to land him, considering two out of two experts logged Crystal Ball predictions in favor of Florida State.

The fact that the Kansas Jayhawks were able to land Grays over multiple SEC schools is certainly a good sign for the program and head coach Les Miles. A lot of credit has to go to defensive backs coach Chevis Jackson, who was the lead recruiter for Grays.

Here is Grays’ Twitter post announcing his commitment to Kansas football’s 2021 class:

Standing at six-foot-two and 190 pounds, Grays is pretty big for a corner. His junior season highlights look good, showing off his speed and agility as a receiver on the offensive side of the ball.

For Kansas, landing Grays has moved their recruiting class into the top 50 overall and No. 5 in the Big 12 according to 247Sports’ team rankings. If Miles and his staff can keep the Jayhawks inside the top 50 by the time National Signing Day comes around, that should be considered a massive win.

Kansas football has historically struggled to recruit, so any baby steps that can be taken to change that should be celebrated.

Kameron Grays should be able to help Kansas in the future, given his excellent frame and athleticism. Chevis Jackson is a great defensive backs coach, and it’s exciting to think about what he can do with Grays once he comes to Lawrence.
