Kansas basketball seems to be in the lead for KJ Adams, a four-star power forward that could really help give the Jayhawks’ 2021 recruiting class a boost.

Kansas basketball’s lone recruit in the 2021 class, Zach Clemence, may have some company soon. Texas native KJ Adams is a four-star prospect who seems to be heavily leaning toward committing to the Jayhawks, which would be huge for KU’s 2021 recruiting class.

Adams rated as the No. 73 overall prospect in his class, and the No. 16 power forward according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He currently holds offers from Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oregon, Georgetown, Florida, LSU, and some other schools. Adams is set to announce his commitment later this month, and the Kansas Jayhawks are the favorite as of now despite the heavy interest.

On 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictor, all eight experts have projected Adams to commit to the Jayhawks, which is certainly a good sign. Obviously the Crystal Ball isn’t everything, but it seems like Adams is really leaning toward Kansas.

If Self and the Jayhawks are able to reel Adams in, he’d certainly boost Kansas’ 2021 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 25 in the nation and No. 2 in the Big 12. With Adams, the Jayhawks should be able to easily move into the top 15 overall, but they’ll probably stay at No. 2 in the conference.

No matter how he impacts Kansas’ rankings, Adams is a must-have for Kansas given the Jayhawks’ recent misses like Kendall Brown and Matthew Cleveland. Considering Bill Self has proven himself time and time again on the recruiting trail though, there’s no reason to doubt him this season, even with the looming NCAA allegations.

Adams will be announcing his commitment at 6:00 PM central time on July 31,and with some luck, Kansas will have their second commit in their 2021 class.
