Kansas football a top five choice for 2021 three-star Safety Lyrik Rawls
Kansas football has made the cut for three-star recruit Lyrik Rawls, a class of 2021 safety with serious potential.
Kansas football landed huge commitment earlier this month when four-star receiver Keon Coleman announced he’d be coming to Lawrence. The Jayhawks have been pretty quiet since then, but three-star recruit Lyrik Rawls has recently announced that Kansas is one of his top five choices.
Rawls is rated as the No. 537 overall recruit in the class of 2021, and the No. 39 overall safety according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. His top five schools include Kansas, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Houston, but Rawls also holds offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Arizona, Indiana, and others.
Based on his top five, it looks like Rawls would like to play in Texas, or at least in the Big 12. Here is his Twitter post announcing his final five:
Keon Coleman has been trying to help recruit Rawls on Twitter, commenting blue and crimson emojis under Rawls’ post as well as quoting it with the phrase “lets get it.”
After taking a look ar Rawls’ highlights, it’s easy to see why he’s so highly recruited. He can be seen burning corners regularly as a receiver and also making some big blocks on offense. As a safety, Rawls offers multiple clips of himself stopping the run, in addition to covering sideline to sideline on pass plays.
If the Jayhawks can manage to land Rawls, he’d be the third-highest rated recruit in Kansas’ class of 2021 behind Coleman and Devin Neal. As of now, the 2021 class currently ranks No. 6 in the Big 12 according to 247Sports, and that number would certainly go up with a commitment from Rawls.
Unfortunately, Rawls has not set a commitment date yet, but it will probably be within the next couple of months since he’s already narrowed his list down to five schools. With any luck, the Jayhawks will add him to their 2021 class by the beginning of the 2020 season, if we have one.
