Kansas basketball: Ranking the top 10 Jayhawks of all time
Kansas basketball has had its share of greats over its 100+ year history, and these Jayhawks are the best of the best.
There aren’t many programs that can compare to Kansas basketball. The Jayhawks have the second-most wins of any basketball program, 15 Final Four appearances, multiple Hall of Fame coaches, one of the greatest venues in sports, and of course, three national titles plus two Helms Championships. They’re a blue blood program through and through.
There’s no denying that Kansas is an elite program and the biggest reason why revolves around the players that come to Lawrence. From guys like Wilt Chamberlain and B.H. Born to Paul Pierce to Thomas Robinson, Kansas has become a premier program for top basketball talent, which makes deciding the top ten Jayhawks of all time a bit of a challenge.
While the top four spots are pretty much locked in place, the five through seven range is pretty tough to navigate. There are three players that all had legendary careers at Kansas, and trying to order them is quite the challenge. The eight, nine, and ten spots are also tough to fill, but that’s because there are just so many Jayhawks that were great.
Before we get into the list, here are a few honorable mentions that just missed making the top ten (in no particular order):
- JoJo White
- Drew Gooden
- Devonte Graham
- Perry Ellis
- Mario Chalmers
One caveat is that only a Jayhawk’s time in college will be considered, not their time in the NBA or other professional leagues. So with that in mind, here are the top 10 Kansas Jayhawks of all time.
