Kansas football: Four-star target Keon Coleman sets commitment date
Four-star recruit and Kansas football target Keon Coleman has officially announced a date to announce his commitment.
Kansas football could be in for some big news on Independence Day. Keon Coleman, a four-star, top 300 recruit in the class of 2021, has set a commitment date for the fourth. The big-time wide receiver has Kansas in his top three choices, along with Oklahoma and South Carolina.
Coleman isn’t just a great football player though, he’s also got D-1 talent on the basketball court as well. Since neither Oklahoma nor South Carolina is on the same level as Kansas basketball, the Jayhawks do have an advantage in that area.
Kansas would also give Coleman the extremely unique opportunity to be coached by two national title winners.
Despite the opportunity that Kansas provides, Oklahoma has two Crystal Ball predictions logged in their favor as of now. While the Crystal Ball isn’t the most important thing in the world, it is what it is and you can take it for what it’s worth.
What Oklahoma does have that Kansas doesn’t is stability in both sports. The Sooners are obviously a power on the gridiron, and they’re decent at basketball too. Coleman would have to take a leap of faith with the Jayhawks on the football field, so that’s one weakness the Jayhawks have.
Even if it comes down to it and Coleman elects to attend either South Carolina or Oklahoma, the fact that Kansas was in the race this long is a good sign for the direction of the program. Coleman also had offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, Indiana, Louisville, Baylor, and many others, just to give you an idea of who the Jayhawks were competing with.
July 4 will be a big day for Kansas if Coleman commits. He could very well be a gamechanger and help pull the Jayhawks back into Big 12 prominence.
