One of the all-time Kansas basketball great Frank Mason was awarded with the G League’s MVP Award, which is a good sign for Mason’s pro career.

Former Kansas basketball star Frank Mason absolutely dominated the competition in the G League’s 2019-20 season. He averaged 26.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds, and was named as the league’s MVP as a result. Mason helped lead the Wisconsin Herd to a 33-10 record, the best in the league. Mason’s 26.4 points per game also led the league.

Since Mason signed a two-way contract with Milwaukee, the organization could call him up the the NBA for a number of games; however, he only played six with the Bucks last season.

This is a huge milestone for Mason, and it’s a solid indicator that he deserves another chance in the NBA. Considering the Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, Mason could very well be the next Jayhawk to win a ring if the Bucks bring him up.

On the other hand, there’s a possibility that Mason could be traded. The NBA Draft is scheduled for October 16, and the Bucks could be looking to make some moves involving Mason as a bargaining chip.

Despite his NBA stat line before going to the Herd (6.5 points and 2.5 assists per game with the Sacramento Kings), Mason is only 26 years old. He’s super young, and he’s also got a ton of upside potential if a team is willing to give him another chance.
