Kansas football has landed their twelfth recruit in the class of 2021 with the commitment of three-star recruit Omar Burroughs Jr.

After a few weeks without a commitment, Kansas football finally got another prospect in their class of 2021: Omar Burroughs Jr. The soon to be senior from IMG Academy is a great pickup for head coach Les Miles and the Jayhawks.

At the time of his commitment, Burroughs held offers from a lot of schools including Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Tennessee, Appalachian State, Troy, and many others. As a three-star recruit, Burroughs is rated as the No. 81 overall safety in the 2021 class according to 247Sports.

Here is his commitment tweet:

Burroughs is definitely a top tier three-star prospect, and he’s got the stats and highlights to back it up. According to his profile, his official 40-yard dash time is 4.76 seconds and with a shuttle run of 4.21 seconds.

In his highlights, Burroughs can bee seen running sideline to sideline making plays and getting interceptions. As a matter of fact, his profile also claims that he’s now the all-time interceptions leader at IMG Academy.

The Jayhawks definitely got a good one with Burroughs. He bumped up Kansas football’s recruiting rankings on 247Sports from No. 50 to No. 42 in the nation, and No. 7 in the Big 12 Conference.

While Kansas football’s 2021 class is mostly three-stars as of now, that’t not a bad thing and it should be expected. The Jayhawks just aren’t going to be able to sign many four or five-star recruits, if any at all.

It’s going to take some good coaching and great recruiting by Miles and his staff to get Kansas turned around, and until then, the Jayhawks will have to work with what they’ve got and do a good job of getting quality recruits like Burroughs.
