Kansas football’s 2021 class is still hanging around inside the top 50, which is a good sign for Les Miles and his staff.

Recruiting has been tough for Kansas football in recent years; and only winning around three games per season will have that effect. Bringing in somebody like Les Miles has helped the Jayhawks on the recruiting trail, and the 2021 class shows that.

As of now, the class ranks just inside the top 50 at No. 48 according to 247Sports and just outside the top 50 at No. 51 according to Rivals. The Jayhawks are No. 7 in the Big 12 Conference according to both outlets.

The Jayhawks’ highest-ranked recruit in the 2021 class is running back Devin Neal, who was recently upgraded to a four-star recruit by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 134 overall recruit in the nation. Neal was a huge commitment for Kansas, and it’s really exciting to think about what he’ll be able to do in a few years.

Another prospect to keep an eye on is Andrew Simpson, a three-star outside linebacker who received an offer from Oregon and some interest from Arizona, UCLA, and USC. Simpson could become an impact player on the Kansas defense in the near future.

While staying in the top 50 is definitely a good thing, the class has slipped a little bit in the rankings. Kansas’ most recent commit was three-star linebacker Trey Staley who committed back on May 23, and Kansas has dropped in the rankings as a result of their stagnation over the past few weeks.

Miles and his staff do have quite a few offers out though, so the twelfth commit in the class could be coming at any day.

While we’ve got a few months until national signing day, it’s exciting to see this class that Miles is bringing in. It’s a group that could get the program turned around, maybe not immediately, but down the road in a couple of years.
