Kansas football has a shot at landing three-star linebacker Timar Rogers, who would be an excellent addition to the Jayhawks’ 2021 recruiting class.

Things have been quiet for the past few weeks when it comes to Kansas football. Les Miles and the Jayhawks have sent out some offers, but nobody has committed and the 2021 class has slipped a little bit in rankings. Getting a commitment from Timar Rogers though could push the Jayhawks back into the top 40.

Rogers is a three-star recruit, but he does have interest from significant schools like Auburn, Missouri, Mississippi State, NC State, Illinois, West Virginia, and others. The Jayhawks are still in the mix to land Rogers despite the tough competition. As a matter of fact, Kansas football, along with the previously mentioned schools, was recently announced by Rogers as one of his top seven choices.

Here is that announcement:

Rogers stands at six-foot-two and 190 pounds and will be a senior next year at Deland High School in Florida. After watching some oh his highlights, it’s obvious that Rogers has great speed which makes him an effective edge rusher. He certainly sees himself doing that at the next level in regards to the type of defense he wants to join: “in college, I’d like to get to the quarterback.”

While Kansas definitely has a shot to land Rogers, it won’t be easy. Rogers has already talked about how much he’d like to play in the SEC, saying: “everything about [Auburn] fits me. I want to play in the SEC. That definitely might be the one.”

If Kansas could land Rogers, it’d be tremendous. The Jayhawks’ 2021 recruiting class is ranked No. 47 in the country and No. 7 in the Big 12 according to 247Sports. There’s no telling on when Rogers will either commit or cut his list again, so now, it’s a waiting game.
