Kansas football received a favorable prediction in 247Sports’ Big 12 projected order of finish for 2020, which is a good sign for the Jayhawks.

Kansas football fans haven’t had a lot to be excited about in the past few seasons. As a matter of fact, the Jayhawks haven’t won more than three games in a season in over a decade, but that could change in the upcoming season.

Kansas football got a vote of confidence from 247Sports, who picked the Jayhawks to finish eighth in the Big 12 in 2020. While eighth isn’t great, it’s a heck of a lot better than last, and it’d show that the Jayhawks are improving.

To finish No. 8 in the conference, Kansas would have to win at least a couple of Big 12 games. Combining those conference wins with at least a couple of non-conference wins against teams like Coastal Carolina and New Hampshire could give the Jayhawks four or five wins in 2020, either of which would be season-bests since 2009 when the Jayhawks won five games.

While 247 seems to have confidence in the Jayhawks, ESPN’s FPI isn’t convinced. FPI predicts the Jayhawks will win less than three games over the course of the season, which would make it tough for Kansas to finish anywhere other than last in the conference.

Whether you’re pessimistic or optimistic about Kansas football in 2020, it’s hard to see the Jayhawks making a bowl game in 2020 barring a greatly improved defense and reliable quarterback. There’s no way to know whether or not those boxes are checked until the season (hopefully) begins in September.
