Kansas basketball fans didn’t really get a chance to see Jalen Wilson last season due to his injury, so it’ll be interesting to see what his role is in 2020.

As a four-star recruit, Jalen Wilson was supposed to be a factor on last season’s Kansas basketball team; however, an injury just one minute into the season opener ruined Wilson’s freshman year. Now, he’ll look to try and rebound this season.

When Wilson committed to Kansas, he had a lot of prestigious offers on the table, most notably from Michigan, North Carolina, Florida State, Arizona State, UCLA, Texas Tech, and others. Wilson was a huge signing for Kansas since his skill set is in such high demand these days.

He stands at six-foot-eight with the ability to shoot and pass too. Wilson’s evaluation on 247 Sports by Evan Daniels notes that he could be a first round draft pick if he can improve his game in college.

Wilson definitely has the potential to become a first rounder at Kansas, the question is: how does he fit with next season’s team? The Jayhawks only lost three players from the 2020 season in Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, and Isaiah Moss.

Christian Braun, Tristan Enaruna, and Dajuan Harris will by vying for playing time next season, and a couple of incoming freshmen will be trying to find some playing time too. Five-star Bryce Thompson and four-star Tyon Grant-Foster both have a shot at playing, and finding who’s going to fit where is tough at this point.

Wilson’s strengths are his size and the fact that he can shoot. As long as Wilson proves that he’s accurate, there’s no reason why he can’t find playing time next season, and possibly even start.

It’s a shame Kansas basketball fans didn’t get to see more of Wilson last season. He could have made that 2019-20 team even better, but at least we’ll get a chance to see him play next season.
