Kansas football has landed their eleventh recruit in the class of 2021 with outside linebacker Trey Staley who’s rated as a three-star recruit.

The Kansas football 2021 recruiting class continues to grow. Today, the Jayhawks received their eleventh commitment from Trey Staley, a three-star outside linebacker from Brookwood High School in Georgia.

In addition to Kansas, Staley also held offers from Army, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo, and others. Even though Staley was under the radar, he could become a solid player for the Jayhawks in the future. He was actually rated as a top 100 linebacker according to 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, so he does have some talent.

Here is Trey Staley’s commitment Tweet:

Staley clocks in at six-foot-two and 200 pounds, which is a pretty good size. He may have to put a little bit more weight either during his senior year or when he gets to college but still, the frame is there.

For Kansas football, the commitment of Staley moves the Kansas Jayhawks up quite a bit in 247 Sports’ rankings. Kansas moved up to No. 34 in the country and No. 5 in the Big 12 Conference. If the Jayhawks can continue to hold their own in recruiting and land inside the top 40 with the 2021 class, it’d be a huge win for Les Miles and his staff.

There’s still a long way to go before National Signing Day though, so Miles and his staff will need some more commitment between now and then to maintain a strong ranking both within the Big 12 and nationally.

Recruiting hard-working and overlooked prospects is one way the Jayhawks can improve their product on the field and become more competitive in the Big 12, and Staley seems to be up to the challenge.
