Kansas basketball will be attempting to defend their Big 12 title next season. Here are three reasons why they’ll be successful.

Despite having their fourteen-year Big 12 winning streak broken in 2019, the Kansas Jayhawks reclaimed their title in the 2020 season by going 17-1 in conference play. Despite losing both Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike, Kansas basketball still has a great chance to win back-to-back titles.

Next season, Kansas will be going for Big 12 title No. 20 against some tough competition. Three of the teams from NBC‘s way-too-early top 25 are from the Big 12. Baylor, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and even Oklahoma State could try to challenge the Jayhawks for the crown, but as long as Kansas can consistently win at home though, they should be fine.

Then, there are there are the NCAA allegations and the impending decision. Whether or not they’ll affect Kansas’ on-court performance remains to be seen; however, they certainly aren’t a positive thing.

If there’s one thing we know about Bill Self though, it’s that he’ll have his guys ready to play no matter what happens. He’s already talked about how he’s extra motivated, which bodes well for the Jayhawks.

So with a motivated Coach Self, a deep roster, and some other factors, Kansas basketball has a great chance to repeat as conference champions in the 2021 season, and win Big 12 title No. 20.
