Five Jayhawks will make All-Big 12 teams

Last season, Kansas football had two players named to All-Big 12 teams:

  • Pooka Williams, First-Team All-Big 12 Running Back
  • Hakeem Adeniji, First-Team All-Big 12 Offensive Line

Obviously, both of those guys are on the offensive side of the ball, but next season the Jayhawks should have one of the best linebackers in the conference with the return of Dru Prox. Last season, Prox was injured during Kansas’ fourth game of the season and never returned; however, he should be good to go next season per Les Miles.

Last season, Prox had 39 tackles within his first four games, which put him on track for 156 over the duration of the season. That number would have led the Big 12, so look for Prox to be a huge part of Kansas’ defense next season.

Williams will be returning as Kansas’ running back and he’s set for another 1,000-yard season; however, he probably won’t be the best back in the Big 12. That honor goes to Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard, who led the entire FBS last season in rushing yards with 2,094. Still, look for Williams to easily make an All-Big 12 team.

Reciever Andrew Parchment is another likely candidate for the first or second-team given his play from last season where he was an honorable mention. He had 861 yards and seven touchdowns last year, and if the Jayhawks can find a QB, those numbers should go up.

The fourth and fifth All-Big 12 members are sort of “wildcard” spots. They could be filled by punter Kyle Thompson who was an honorable mention last season, receiver Stephon Robinson, or maybe different players who will have breakout seasons in 2020.
