Kansas basketball released their 2020 non-conference schedule today, and it looks like the Jayhawks have their work cut out.

Kansas basketball regularly plays one of the most difficult schedules in the nation, and the 2020-21 season won’t be any different. The non-conference schedule was released today by Kansas Athletics, and the Jayhawks will have to face a number of tough opponents.

Most notably, Kansas will have to face Kentucky, Creighton, Colorado, and possibly Virginia. The good thing is that playing this tough of schedule allows Kansas to be in contention for a No. 1 seed come next March as long as they play well against their Big 12 opponents too.

Here is the full non-con schedule per Kansas Athletics:

  • Nov. 10 vs. Kentucky (United Center, Chicago)
  • Nov. 13 vs. Southern Utah
  • Nov. 16 vs. Eastern Illinois
  • Nov. 20 vs. Stony Brook
  • Nov. 26-27 Wooden Legacy (Virginia, Georgetown, and UCLA)
  • Dec. 3 vs. Creighton
  • Dec. 8 vs. Omaha
  • Dec. 12 vs. Missouri (Sprint Center)
  • Dec. 19 vs. USC
  • Dec. 22 @ Colorado
  • Dec. 29 vs. Harvard

Creighton, Virginia, Kentucky, and UCLA all made NBC‘s way-too-early top 25 rankings, and there are a lot of sneaky good teams on here too. Both USC and Colorado were solid Pac-12 teams last season, Harvard finished second in the Ivy League and Stony Brook finished second in their conference as well.

Ultimately, this schedule should help out Kansas basketball in preparing for a tough Big 12 gauntlet where they’ll be regularly competing against solid teams like Texas Tech, Baylor, and West Virginia. And of course, if the Jayhawks play well in their non-con games, that’ll help out big time when seeds are being assigned to teams based on their resumes.

With a lot of talent returning from the previous year, next season should be fun. Look for the Jayhawks to easily be a top 10 team in the country when the AP Basketball Poll comes out this Fall.
