Kansas basketball continues to hit the recruiting trail hard as they offer the second-ranked power forward in the 2022 class, Kijani Wright.

With no commits set for the 2022 Kansas basketball class, Bill Self and team look to add experience to the class as they offer 2019 FIBA U16 Gold-Medalist Kijani Wright. Wright is a six-foot-seven five-star power forward who plays for the renowned Compton Magic AAU team in California.

So far, Wright holds a number of offers from schools like USC, Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, Vanderbilt, and many others.

He announced the offer from the Kansas Jayhawks via Twitter on Thursday.

The upcoming junior already has an extensive basketball resume in addition to the USA basketball experience, Wright was a member of the 2019 Underclassmen All-American team. With two high school seasons still to play, Wright should come into his freshman year with the kind of experience that gets you playing time from the jump.

According to 247 Sports, Kijani is the second-ranked power forward and seventh overall player in the 2022 class. His wide base and strength allow him to play with anyone in the paint, a great fit for Kansas basketball and Coach Self’s offense.

Taking a look at his highlight tapes, Wright is money from mid-range and can sink hook-shots reminiscent of the days of basketball past. He’s a brute force in the paint, but utilizes his quick feet to position himself to grab boards over his larger opponents. Look for Wright to improve on his shot from deep over the next to seasons, allowing him to stretch the floor adding depth to his skill set.

A blue blood program with a rich history and a coach that tends to run the offense through his big men (read Udoka Azubuike), Kansas basketball would be a phenomenal fit for Kijani Wright. By the time he could land in Lawrence, Wright should have an opportunity to take lead of the Jayhawks as a true freshman.
