Kansas football: Jayhawks land coveted three-star recruit Andrew Simpson
Kansas football has been on a tear lately. The Jayhawks just gained another commitment, this time from three-star linebacker Andrew Simpson.
The commitments keep rolling in for Kansas football head coach Les Miles. The newest commit is Andrew Simpson, a three-star linebacker out of St. John Bosco High School in California. Simpson is a really solid pick up for the Kansas Jayhawks’ 2021 recruiting class which now ranks inside the top 30 nationally.
Simpson held quite a few offers including from some solid schools including Oregon, Utah State, Central Michigan, San Diego State, and UNLV. He also received some interest from Oregon State, Arizona, UCLA, and USC, as well.
Here’s Simpson’s Twitter post announcing his commitment to Kansas:
A new era indeed.
With Simpson’s commitment, the 2021 Kansas football recruiting class will be inside the top 30 nationally according to 247 Sports. Filled with 10 recruits already, Miles and his staff have done an incredible job of getting guys to commit this early in the process. If they keep up, this could be one of the highest-rated groups in recent memory.
A lot of the credit for specifically getting Simpson to commit has to go to linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe since he was the lead recruiter.
So far, Simpson is the second defensive player to commit to the Jayhawks as he joins defensive end Deldrick Withers of Arkansas. Standing at six-foot-one and weighing 220 pounds, Simpson is a player to watch as his development takes place over a four-year period.
With a lot of talent at the linebacker position including sophomore Gavin Potter and junior Jay Dineen, Simpson should have some guys to look up to when he joins Kansas in 2021. Look for him to start standing out early in his college career as he positively affects the Jayhawks on the field.
