Kansas basketball extends offer to four-star point guard Nolan Hickman
By Dakota Fearn
Collins, Robinson, Mason, Graham, and Dotson are just some a few of the top PGs to have come out of the Kansas Jayhawks basketball program, aka Point-Guard University. Could Nolan Hickman be the next NBA level point guard to come out of Kansas basketball?
Kansas basketball continues to look for the next star point guard to don the blue and crimson jersey, with Nolan Hickman as the latest target. A six-foot-one point guard hailing from Washington state, Hickman has continued to impress scouts in his junior season with his on-ball skill set and court vision.
According to 247 Sports, Hickman is ranked No. 60 nationally and is the No. 9 point guard in the 2021 class. While in-state programs Washington and Washington State took notice of Hickman early, the Jayhawks are the first program with true national title potential to extend an offer.
Taking a look at his highlights, the guard’s game is developed and well-rounded. It’s really no wonder the Kansas basketball staff is so interested in him. Hickman can be seen knocking down 3’s in the eyes of defenders, driving and dishing dimes, and crossing up anyone is his path. Hickman announced his offer from Kansas basketball on Twitter last Thursday.
The 2021 class for Kansas basketball will be vital in the continued success of the historic program. With no commits thus far, Hickman would be the perfect fit for a program known to produce all-time great point guards.
Hickman’s well-rounded offensive skill set and ability to defend on-ball would be a huge pickup for the Jayhawks. Once COVID-19 passes, look for Hickman to take his official visit to Lawrence, where I’m certain he will fall in love.
As Hickman’s senior year quickly approaches, it is certain he will continue to garner attention from more Division I programs. But, with the work of Coach Self’s staff Hickman could very well be the next great to ‘Enter the Phog.’
