Kansas basketball will take on the Creighton Bluejays in the Big 12-Big East series next season. The matchup should be an exciting one.

Kansas basketball’s 2020 nonconference schedule has continued to develop over this unusually long offseason with the addition of Creighton. While some Kansas Jayhawks fans may be upset at not getting to play Villanova, the game against Creighton could be between two top 10 teams.

Last season, Creighton won a share of the Big East regular-season title and they’ll be returning a decent amount of talent from that squad; however, not everyone will be back. Jeff Borzello of ESPN dropped the Bluejays from No. 2 in his way-too-early top 25 to No. 12 after Ty-Shon Alexander declared for the draft and Davion Mintz decided to transfer.

Still, Kansas and Creighton in the battle of the birds should be a fun game, especially considering that it’ll be at historic Allen Fieldhouse. Here are the other games from the Big 12-Big East series per Jon Rothstein:

  • Villanova at Texas
  • Creighton at Kansas
  • Baylor at Seton Hall
  • Providence at TCU
  • St. John’s at Texas Tech
  • Oklahoma at Xavier
  • West Virginia at Georgetown
  • Oklahoma State at Marquette
  • DePaul at Iowa State
  • Kansas State at Butler

Looking at the schedule, the Kansas-Creighton game is one of the most compelling matchups. Baylor at Seton Hall could be a game to keep an eye on too.

Since 1950, Kansas is 4-1 against Creighton with the most recent game coming in March of 1974. The Jayhawks defeated the Bluejays 54-55 in that game behind 18 points from Roger Morningstar, the father of Brady Morningstar who played for Kansas in the late 2000s.

Even though Kansas basketball will miss out on a chance for some revenge against Villanova, drawing Creighton is a good thing. They’ll be a strong team next season, and it could provide a great resume-boosting win for the Jayhawks as long as they take care of business at home.
