Kansas basketball: Devon Dotson reportedly entering the NBA Draft
As expected, Kansas basketball’s Devon Dotson will be forgoing his final two years of eligibility and declare for the NBA Draft.
It’s still not official yet, but Jeff Goodman of Stadium has announced that per source, Devon Dotson will declare for the NBA draft with the plan of waiving his remaining eligibility. This isn’t a shock, but Dotson leaving Kansas basketball is still news.
Last season as a sophomore, Dotson was one of the best point guards and overall players in the United States. He averaged 18.1 points, 4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game leading to a bounty of postseason awards including First-team All-Big 12 and Second-team All-American.
Here is Goodman’s tweet regarding Dotson:
As of now, Dotson is projected by most mock drafts to be am early second-rounder picked somewhere between No. 31 and No. 38 overall. While Dotson is tremendous when it comes to getting to the rim, his three-point shooting makes scouts nervous.

One of the saddest parts about Dotson leaving is the fact that he only got to play in two NCAA Tournament games during his time at Kansas. It almost feels like he didn’t get a chance to complete his legacy, and his Kansas career will always be a “what if?” regarding the 2020 tournament.
(Update: 12:34 am.) Dotson has now officially announced that he will be declaring for the draft:
This 2020 teams really had it all, and Dot and the squad had a chance to not only make it to a Final Four but also win a national championship.
The era of Dot and Doke has come to a close, and the end is bittersweet. Wherever Dotson ends up in the NBA, he’ll always be a Jayhawk.
Dotson will almost certainly make an announcement at some point. We’ll update this piece as Dotson makes his intentions official.
