Kansas football’s Chris Harris Jr. named to NFL 2010s All-Decade Team
One of the all-time great Jayhawks is also an all-time great in the NFL. Kansas football’s Chris Harris Jr. has been named to the 2010s All-Decade Team.
As just a three-star recruit, Chris Harris Jr. committed to Kansas football in January of 2007. Now, he’s a Super Bowl champion and a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade team.
As a Jayhawk, Harris made an immediate impact for Kansas. He started in 10 games during the 2007 season, including the Jayhawks’ Orange Bowl victory. Harris would go onto be one of the best secondary members in Kansas football history during his four-year career and he has since been inducted into the Ring of Honor.
After going undrafted, Harris signed with the Denver Broncos in 2011. Three years later, he’d attend his first Pro Bowl and also be awarded second-team All-Pro. Now in 2020, Harris has multiple All-Pro selections and four Pro-Bowls to his name.
Harris’ most important accolade though is his Super Bowl in 2015. Along with fellow Kansas football alum Aqib Talib, Harris and the Broncos would go down as one of the most dominant defenses of all time on their way to a victory in Super Bowl 50.
Last month, Harris announced that he’d be joining the Chargers next season. On joining his new team in Los Angeles, this is what Harris had to say:
"“I’m excited about my next chapter. “I’m looking forward to coming to L.A. and being able to help this team win, help this organization win.”"
Now, Harris is being honored as a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team along with many of the all-time greats like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Larry Fitzgerald, Richard Sherman, and J.J. Watt. Sadly, his former college and pro teammate Aqib Talib was left off the list.
Harris is one of the best to ever do it, at both the collegiate and professional levels. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more hard-working guy, and if he keeps going the way he’s going he should end up in Canton by the end of his career.
