No. 1: There’s No Place Like Home

For Kansas basketball fans that enjoy ESPN’s 30 for 30 series, this is a must-watch. There’s No Place Like Home features Jayhawks superfan and director Josh Swade attempting to return James Naismith’s original rules of basketball to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.

The show follows Swade, who set out on a quest to win Naismith’s original rules of basketball at auction and donate them to the University of Kansas. The problem was that the rules were expected to sell for over $2 million.

"“‘There’s No Place Like Home’ is the story of one man’s fanatical quest to win this seminal American artifact at auction and bring the rules ‘home’ to Lawrence, Kansas.”  – Film Summary from ESPN"

Instead of admitting defeat, Swade attempts to enlist help from some of Kansas Athletics’ most prominent boosters including the Anderson, Horejsi, and Booth families. He realizes it may take more than persistence to sell his dream though, so he decides to reach out to some legends.

Along the way, Swade meets with some Kansas basketball greats like Roy Williams, Larry Brown, and the descendants of the great Phog Allen. Other basketball personalities such as Jay Bilas help out Swade too.

There’s No Place Like Home is a fun and rewarding watch for any fan of Kansas basketball. It can be accessed on ESPN+ with the rest of the 30 for 30 series or purchased individually on Amazon or Google Play.
