College GameDay and Peyton Manning visit Allen Fieldhouse, Jan. 25

The very next game after their historic brawl with Kansas State, the Jayhawks faced Tennessee in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Despite the Volunteers losing quite a bit of talent from their previous season, they were still a formidable opponent.

Not only that, but Allen Fieldhouse would also be hosting College GameDay.

During the show, Bill Self sat down and did a live interview with Rece Davis. The interview went over many of the tumultuous events from the season, including Snoop Dogg’s performance and the brawl that took place just a few days ago.

After the conclusion of GameDay and just before the game began, rumors started swirling that Tennessee alum and future NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning was in the building. Those rumors were accurate, as Manning sat near the Volunteers’ bench to watch his alma mater take on Kansas.

The Jayhawks would go on to win the game 74-68 thanks to big games from Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, and Ochai Agbaji. Dotson had an especially great game, totaling 22 points and seven assists on the day.

At this point in the season, Kansas was still one game behind top-ranked Baylor in the Big 12. The two juggernauts were on a collision course though with their game being a determining factor on who would win the conference.
