Despite one of the most disappointing conclusions we’ve ever seen, Kansas basketball’s 2019-20 season was unforgettable and dominant.
The 2019-20 Kansas basketball season is without a doubt one of the most memorable ever. In the 100+ year history of this program, there hasn’t been more controversy, excitement, or craziness in a single season, and that’s not overstating anything.
Despite it all, the Jayhawks were the best team in the country. Really, they need to make a 30 for 30 about the 2019-20 Jayhawks.
Before anything, let’s look at the first key piece that got the ball rolling: Udoka Azubuike.
The big man decided to come back for his senior season at the 11th hour in mid-April last year. As many Kansas basketball fans anxiously refreshed Twitter, the deadline to declare for the draft or return to college came and went without so much as a peep from Kansas or Azubuike.
Then, the Kansas basketball Twitter account announced that Azubuike would be returning for his senior year. The news was huge for the Jayhawks, and it ultimately worked out extremely well for everyone involved.
Azubuike rejoining Kansas is what ultimately made them the best team in the nation. Without the big man down low, it’s hard to imagine where the Jayhawks would have been, but thankfully, we got one more year of Azubuike.
Now, let’s take a look at all of the highlights from Kansas basketball’s 2019-20 season.
