With conference tournaments upon us, here are three keys for Kansas basketball to win the 2020 Big 12 Tournament.

Kansas basketball has won the Big 12 Conference Tournament 11 times and they’ll go for number 12 starting tomorrow despite the tournament not meaning much this season. The Jayhawks are a lock to receive a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and likely the No. 1 overall seed.

Still, winning the Big 12 Tournament would help Kansas maintain their momentum and win streak which is currently sitting at 16 games.

A more important factor for the Jayhawks though could be getting rest. Here’s what head coach Bill Self had to say via KUsports:

"“It’s not a win-at-all-costs tournament. Even though if you play you’ve got to win, but I’m not going to go into it thinking that we’ve got to grind to win this one. Let’s play and hopefully get some guys a chance to play.”"

It sounds like Self is going to concentrate more on keeping his players fresh and healthy, rather than winning at all costs, which is smart. This team is too talented and deep to risk everything for a conference tournament championship at the expense of being healthy for the NCAA Tournament.

With Bill Self’s thought process in mind, here are three keys for Kansas basketball to win the 2020 Big 12 Tournament.
