Kansas football: Top three offensive playmakers to watch in 2020
Stephon Robinson, Senior WR
Stephon Robinson joined Kansas football as a sophomore after beginning his collegiate career at El Camino College, and he immediately made an impact in his sophomore year.
In 2019, Robinson had his best season yet. He was a top receiver for the Jayhawks, totaling 45 receptions on the year for an average of 16.2 yards per catch. With the departure of senior receiver Daylon Charlot, Robinson will be one of Kansas football’s top two receivers in 2020.
Here are some of Robinson’s 2019 stats:
- 727 receiving yards
- 45 receptions
- 8 touchdowns
- 247 kick return yards
In the Jayhawk’ lone Big 12 win last season, Robinson had a career game. He reeled in six catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns in Kansas’ 37-34 win over Texas Tech. Robinson also had four attempts as a return man against the Red Raiders, racking up 104 yards.
"“[Robinson] doesn’t say a word. He just grinds his tail off every day at practice, and his work is coming to show.” – Carter Stanley via KU Sports"
Next season, it’s completely realistic to expect Robinson to have a shot at being named to an All-Big 12 team since he was left off in 2019. If the Jayhawks can develop a quarterback that can get Robinson the ball consistently, there’s no doubt he’ll be one of the better receivers in the conference along with some of his teammates.
In 2020, look for Robinson and fellow receivers Andrew Parchment and Kwamie Lassiter II to lead the Jayhawks’ receiving corps, no matter who the quarterback is.
