Kansas basketball defeated the Baylor Bears on the road today, sealing their position as the best team in the conference and in the country.

What a win for the Jayhawks. Kansas basketball took down the vaunted Baylor Bears in Waco handing Baylor their first home loss of the season. The Jayhawks also snapped the Bears’ 23 game win streak.

The player of the game has to be Kansas basketball’s Udoka Azubuike. The big man was a force, scoring 23 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in the 64-61 win. With that big of a performance, he may have locked up the Big 12 Player of the Year Award. Both Devon Dotson and Isaiah Moss had solid games as well, scoring 13 and 11 points respectively.

It was a nail biter game that came down to the final possession. It was interesting to see the Jayhawks not foul up three in the final moments; however, playing defense worked out and Kansas came away with the massive victory.

With the win over Baylor, Kansas has all but secured a one seed in the NCAA Tournament barring a complete meltdown to end the season.

In terms of the Big 12 title race, Kansas now controls their own destiny since they’re tied with Baylor. If the Jayhawks win their final four games of the season, they will have at least guaranteed themselves a share of the conference title. Kansas could very well win the Big 12 outright too given the Bears still have to play Texas Tech at home and West Virginia on the road.

In the AP Poll, it’d be surprising for the Jayhawks not to become the No. one team in the nation given just how impressive their resume is now.

With the series tied at 1-1, Baylor and Kansas could easily meet again in Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament. The game wouldn’t have a whole lot of meaning outside of winning the Big 12 Tournament (unless either team melted down and needs the win), but don’t think the Jayhawks and Bears are done seeing each other for the season.
