Tyon Grant-Foster, Forward – Four-star recruit

Tyon Grant-Foster is a four-star Juco prospect currently attending Indian Hills Community College in Iowa; however, he’s actually from Kansas City where he attended Schlagle High School. According to Rivals, Grant-Foster is one of the top community college transfers available in the 2020 class.

Grant-Foster was highly sought after, receiving offers from Oregon, Iowa State, Arkansas, Georgia, and others. He committed to Bill Self and Kansas last year on October 14, and then signed about a month later on November 13.

Grant-Foster was described by Bill Self as a jack of all trades, sounding almost like a Dedric Lawson type of player. Here’s Self’s comment on Grant-Foster and his versatility:

"Tyon is very long and extremely skilled. He can play basically anywhere on the floor, one through four. He’s good with the ball, has great vision and is a terrific athlete. His motor is always running.”"

Having a big man that can pass and handle the ball is a huge advantage in college basketball since the majority of forwards can only play catching the ball with their back to the basket, and can’t really pass. Grant-Foster’s skill set is one that NBA scouts love to see these days; a six-foot-seven body with athleticism, and the ability to distribute.

Look for Grant-Foster to get a good amount of minutes in his first season with Kansas, and keep in mind that he only has two more years of college eligibility.
