Kansas basketball will attempt to win their seventh game in a row later tonight when they face Texas. Here’s everything to know, including time, odds, TV channel, and more.

Kansas basketball will go for the sweep against the Texas Longhorns later tonight. It’s a “should win” type of game for the Jayhawks, but anything can happen. Texas has won their past two, and both teams are coming off of a Saturday game without much rest.

Kansas won’t have much prep time for the Longhorns, and Jericho Sims, who scored 20 against Kansas earlier this year. Still, Texas won’t have much time either, and I’ll put my money on Bill Self over Shaka Smart.

Here’s Kansas basketball vs. Texas at a glance:

  • Time: 8:00 PM (CT)
  • Place: Allen Fieldhouse – Lawrence, KS.
  • Watch: ESPN
  • Listen: FM- KKSW 105.9, or AM- KLWN 1320 (Lawrence Stations)
  • All-Time Series: KU leads 31-8
  • Last Meeting: 2020, 66-57 KU
  • Odds: (courtesy of The Action Network)

As mentioned, Kansas basketball will have to stop Jericho Sims, who lit up the Jayhawks last time the two teams played. The Longhorns’ top scoring option this season has been Matt Coleman III, who’s averaging 12.8 points per game. He had 14 a couple of nights ago against Iowa State.

Kansas should be able to take advantage of the Longhorns’ poor free throw shooting, which sits at just 65 percent. Texas also struggles with taking care of the basketball, turning it over on 20.6 percent of their possessions according to KenPom.

The biggest storyline surrounding Texas basketball this season has to do with Shaka Smart though. Smart has been at Texas since 2015 and has yet to get make the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and this season isn’t looking much better. The Longhorns are sitting at 4-4 in conference play, and unless they make a run in March, this could be it for Shaka.

An ideal game for Kansas would be to get up big in the second half and give the starters a break. Devon Dotson played 40 minutes against Texas Tech, and Marcus Garrett has been battling ankle injuries for quite some time now. They (and others) could benefit from a day off.

Hopefully, Kansas can coast to a victory here after having a nailbiter like the Texas Tech game. The starters could use the rest, and so could the fans.
